Joint and Arthritis Relief

When our beloved and loyal pet dog is suffering from Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) or OsteoArthritis or maybe Elbow and Hip Dysplasia, it's joint area, at the shoulders, elbows and at the hipsare affected which would explain the odd gait your pet has acquired.

Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) or OsteoArthritis
Bones are covered by cartilage and membrane that make coordinated movement of connected bones smooth and stable. As a pet dog grows older the cartilage connecting the bones wears out. Depending on the dog, the cartilage gets so worn out that friction between the bones of a joint cause pain. Bones have nerves and need the cartilage for it to function without pain.

Elbow and Hip Pysplasia
These diseases concern the dogs front and hind joints which are deformed. The joints' socket is not fully grown that the joint ball has a tendency to slip out, despite the ligaments and muscles holding the bones together.

Veterinarians and Animal Physical Therapists have recommend pet parents the following:

Proper sleeping area and surface
A pet provided a dog bed that is soft yet stable is a concern for veterinarians. Medications may dull a pets pain, but the source if inoperable still exists. Sleeping on a dog bed allows your pet to position itself in a way that will be comfortable and less painful. Sleeping on a hard surface is torture since there is no room for adjusting its position.

Massage and physical therapy
Massages that build muscle and heat therapy are given to pet dogs to lessen pain and swelling. Some dog beds take the place of hot water bottles or warm compresses to stressed joints. The application of warmth to the affected area promotes blood circulation easing pain at the same time decrease stiffening of soft tissues affected by the disease.

Adjust pets activity to lessen pain
Placing your pets dog bed in the room used mostly by the family lessens your pets having to seek everyone out just to be with the pack family. Most dogs exhibit loyalty by just suffering silently but seeking strength in its pack family's presence.
